Good News; Orlando Coach Jose Riveiro sign a four year contract with…
Orlando Pirates coach Jose Riveiro was impressed and felt his side were the better team against AmaZulu in the quarter-finals of the Nedbank Cup.
The Buccaneers fought hard to secure an impressive 4-2 victory over Usuthu at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.
A brace from goals from Patrick Maswanganyi and goals from Kabelo Dlamini and Makhehlene Makhaula cancelled out goals from Hendrick Ekstein and Taariq Fielies, which proved to be consolation goals.
Riveiro has revealed that he has learned just as much from his players as they do from him.
“Well, proper football game, no? I think it was a good show from the beginning, we started the game very well with a number of chances to get a comfortable advantage, we couldn’t. They capitalised in one mistake in our organisation, in a lateral cross,” Riveiro told SuperSport TV after the game.
“We came back just before halftime with a 1-1 and I think the second-half was maybe not at a level of the first-half from our side but still dominating, creating chances.
“I’m happy for the boys, they fought a lot, we played football when it was time to play football, we fought when it was time to fight. ”
“The cup games are like this, you have to play three, four different games inside the 90 (minutes) and I think we were a better team in all of them.”
