Unbelievable ; Los Angeles Rams Terminate Jared Verse Contact minutes after the…
While Young impressed as a rookie, at age 26 there are questions around how much room he has left to grow at the NFL level. He also hit the “rookie wall” last year and there was a substantial drop in production from the first half of the season. There’s a chance, if not probable, that Verse steps in and is the Rams’ best OLB on day one. That’s a fair expectation of the 19th overall selection and who most draft experts had solidly ranked in the top three EDGE rushers from this class.
Snap Count Estimates:
While Young played 1,021 snaps a year ago (including playoffs), he might be better suited in a slightly smaller role so he can make the most of his speed and high motor when he’s on the field. Even a pass rush specialist that gives you 500 snaps has tremendous value, so this isn’t to say that Young isn’t an important player on the Rams roster.
One of the priorities of the 2024 offseason for the Los Angeles Rams was retooling a defense that outperformed most expectations a year ago. LA will have a new-look defensive line that features their top two selections from the NFL Draft—Florida State’s Jared Verse and Braden Fiske—and they’ll join second-year players Kobie Turner and Byron Young. The Rams also drafted Washington State OLB Brennan Jackson in the fourth round to add to a group that saw three EDGE rushers selected a year ago.
The OLB room is starting to get crowded in Los Angeles. Once the pecking order is established in training camp, how should we expect things to look?
